THE WAIT IS OVER!

We are looking forward to opening Killman Zoo on Saturday, June 20 with some modifications in place for the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, visitors, and animals. These modifications are designed to comply with Haldimand Norfolk  Health Unit and the Ontario Provincial Government guidelines. Before you visit, please read the information below to plan your visit accordingly.

You agree to not to enter Killman Zoo if:

  • You are ill or experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. These include:Fever, Cough, Shortness of breath, Runny nose, Sore throat and/or other symptoms listed on Ontario Health Services website.
  • You have been exposed to someone who has been diagnosed with or has symptoms of COVID-19
  • You, or someone in your household  has traveled internationally in the past 14 days.

For the Health and Safety of our guests, staff and animals we have made significant changes to our daily operations.

  1. Bring your own wagon or stroller
  2. Bring your own beverages / water bottle
  3. Limited transaction contact – debit / credit / Tap preferred (online purchase coming soon)

WHAT WE ARE DOING TO KEEP YOU SAFE

  • QR-code screening prior to entry ( see attachment for posting)
  • One-way pedestrian traffic in most areas
  • Increase sanitization procedures
  • Hand sanitization stations and hand washing reminders throughout the zoo
  • Social Distancing reminders in the zoo
  • Limited contact during transactions
  • Barriers have been added in select places around the Zoo where it is more difficult to maintain social distancing
  • A small selection of retail gift shop items will be available for purchase
  • Please dispose of Personal Protective Equipment in Trash Bins (ei. wipes / gloves)
  • For the safety of our animals PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH OR FEED ANY ANIMALS.
  • We will request washing of hands prior to entry and upon your departure from the zoo.

FAQ’s

1. Can I leave the Zoo and come back the same day?

Due to our one way paths, we are asking guests to complete their visit before leaving the Zoo.

2. Can I bring in my own food and beverages?

Yes, outside food and beverages are permitted. Please no alcohol, glass containers or disposable straws. Remember that the Black Bear Snack Shop will be closed temporarily beverages or snacks will not be available. Please do not litter and dispose garbage in trash bins.

3. Do I need to wear a face mask/covering?

Face coverings are not compulsory however some members of our team may choose to wear them. Visitors are welcome to wear masks when visiting the Zoo. This is not a requirement, but a personal choice.

4. Can I meet others at the zoo?

Government guidelines are currently that you can meet up in groups of up to 10 people, as long as all members of the group are following social distancing. We are following all government guidance and will continue to do so in line with changes to this guidance.

5. Will I have to wait to get inside the Killman Zoo?

Killman Zoo will limit any unnecessary contact or crowding. This may result in wait times at points of entry and service during peak visitation.

6. Are picnic areas open?

Picnic areas are closed until further notice. Benches will remain in place for persons with a need to rest.

7. Can we purchase animal feed/feed animals?

We are operating with a NO TOUCH policy in place for the safety and health of our animals. We will not be selling animal feed.
Please respect the NO TOUCH policy, refrain from touching animals while on your visit.
